
17-Year-Old Arrested for Online Violent Threats Against Rancho Mirage High School
A 17-year-old in Cathedral City was arrested for making violent threats online against Rancho Mirage High School, but no weapons were found.

A 17-year-old male from Cathedral City has been apprehended by law enforcement due to allegations of online threats of violence directed towards Rancho Mirage High School. Despite a thorough search of the teen's residence, authorities reported that no weapons were discovered.
Cooperation with FBI
Deputies from the Riverside County Sheriff's Department received a tip-off on Wednesday, September 4, around 6 p.m. regarding posts made online that threatened school safety. The FBI's involvement was sought, leading to the identification of a residence located in the 27-000 block of Ventura Drive in Cathedral City as the origin of the reported threats.
The following day, a school resource deputy was able to identify the teenage suspect, resulting in a combined effort from deputies and Cathedral City police officers to search the juvenile's residence. While evidence supporting the online threats was located, authorities did not come across any firearms. Subsequently, the teenager was arrested and taken into custody at the juvenile hall. Due to legal restrictions, his name has not been publicly disclosed.
