The Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) confirmed the discovery of 27 illegal immigrants inside a horse trailer during the traffic stop. The driver, identified as Jose Guadalupe Salinas from Palmview, Texas, was towing a Ford-250.

Distressing Conditions

Upon inspection, Texas troopers found the illegal migrants "distressed and sweating profusely" inside the horse trailer. Furthermore, three individuals were reported to be "severely dehydrated due to extreme heat and no ventilation."

During the interaction with the troopers, Salinas initially claimed to have two horses in the trailer. However, upon further questioning and request for consent to search the trailer, he warned the officer to "be careful" as the individuals inside were "aggressive." Subsequently, he voluntarily opened the side hatch for the officer, revealing the distressing situation inside.

Medical Attention and Referral

Upon discovering the distressing conditions of the illegal migrants, the troopers offered immediate assistance, especially to three severely dehydrated females who required medical attention due to the extreme heat and lack of ventilation. The individuals from Mexico were then referred to the U.S. Border Patrol for further handling.
