A Utah woman who fatally poisoned her husband and published a children's book now faces another murder charge
Utah woman suspected of poisoning her husband and profiting from a children's book faces multiple charges.

Following the chilling case of Kouri Richins, a Utah woman accused of fatally poisoning her husband and then publishing a children's book about grief, new charges have been filed against her. Now, she faces another attempted murder charge for allegedly drugging her husband weeks earlier, on Valentine's Day.
Prior Attempts and Perilous Months
New charging documents filed by Summit County prosecutors detail the perilous months preceding Eric Richins' death, suggesting that it wasn't Kouri Richins' first attempt on his life. The documents paint a picture of a paranoid man walking on eggshells around his wife as she made secret financial arrangements and bought illicit drugs that were later found in his system.
Prosecutors allege that on Valentine's Day, Eric Richins broke out in hives and blacked out after consuming a sandwich left with a note in his truck. The sandwich, purchased by Kouri Richins the same week she bought fentanyl pills, led to suspicions of an initial murder attempt.
Details on Eric Richins' Death
A month later, Kouri Richins called 911 to report finding her husband "cold to the touch" at the foot of their bed. The subsequent medical examination revealed a lethal dosage of fentanyl in his system, pointing to a calculated murder plot.
Possible Motive
Years before her husband's death, Kouri Richins opened numerous life insurance policies on Eric Richins without his knowledge, with benefits totaling nearly $2 million. Additionally, she was charged with mortgage fraud and insurance fraud, suggesting financial distress and a mistaken belief that she would inherit his estate under the terms of their prenuptial agreement.
Maternal Murder Accomplice?
Investigators believe that Kouri Richins' mother might have been involved in Eric Richins' death, citing her proximity to a previous suspicious overdose death and conversations found on Kouri's phone showing disdain for Eric on her part.
No charges have been filed against Lisa Darden, Kouri Richins' mother, but the case continues to unravel with startling revelations.
