Dealing with flight delays and cancellations can be a major headache for travelers. Punctuality is a key factor for passengers when selecting an airline. Results from travel data analytics firm Cirium showed that Colombia's Avianca Airlines topped the global punctuality rankings in 2023 with an 85.73% on-time performance rate. Azul Airlines from Brazil followed closely, while Qatar Airways secured the third position. In Asia-Pacific, All Nippon Airways and Japan Airlines were the leading carriers, with Thailand's Thai AirAsia and Indian low-cost carrier Indigo also making notable performances. Notably, Indigo became the first Indian carrier to reach 100 million passengers in a calendar year, with an on-time performance score of 82.12%. Cirium's vice president of business development, David White, commended Indigo's transformation post-Covid and its impressive on-time performance. Minneapolis–Saint Paul International Airport was recognized as the world's most punctual airport in 2023, with India's Rajiv Gandhi International Airport in Hyderabad securing the second position. Cirium's chief marketing officer, Mike Malik, attributed the Indian airport's remarkable improvement to substantial investments in technology, processes, and personnel.
