Alec Baldwin Trial: Opening Arguments Begin in 'Rust' Shooting Case
Alec Baldwin's trial for involuntary manslaughter in Halyna Hutchins' shooting begins three years after the 'Rust' film set accident.

The trial of actor Alec Baldwin for involuntary manslaughter in the fatal shooting of 'Rust' cinematographer Halyna Hutchins is set to begin on Wednesday, nearly three years after the tragic incident took place on the New Mexico film set.
Charges and Potential Sentence
Baldwin, who is accused of his role in the deadly accident that also injured the movie's director, Joel Souza, could face up to 18 months in prison if convicted.
Jury selection for the trial took place on Tuesday in the courtroom of Santa Fe County District Court Judge Mary Marlowe Sommer.
Baldwin's defense attorneys have not confirmed whether the actor will testify in the trial.
Armorer's Conviction
It's worth mentioning that the movie's armorer, Hannah Gutierrez-Reed, who was responsible for overseeing the weapons on set, was found guilty of involuntary manslaughter in April and is currently serving an 18-month prison sentence.
