Tragedy struck for an Oklahoma-based missionary group operating in the capital of Haiti as they were attacked by local gangs. This devastating incident resulted in the deaths of two Americans and the group's director. The organization, known as Missions in Haiti, made the heartbreaking announcement on their official Facebook page.
Missions in Haiti's Vital Work
Missions in Haiti is dedicated to providing essential services in the Bon Repos neighborhood, located in the northern outskirts of Port-au-Prince. The organization operates a school catering to the educational needs of 450 children, manages two churches, and oversees a children's home in this area. Regrettably, the neighborhood is under the control of two local gangs, presenting significant challenges to the organization's humanitarian efforts.
The victims of this senseless attack were identified as David Lloyd III, 23, affectionately known as Davy, and his wife, Natalie Lloyd, 21, both of whom were the children of the founders of Missions in Haiti. Additionally, the organization's Haitian director, Jude Montis, 20, also tragically lost his life in the attack. Natalie Lloyd, it is noted, is the daughter of Missouri State Representative Ben Baker.
Expressing the depth of his sorrow, Representative Ben Baker shared his anguish on Facebook. He described his heart as being "broken in a thousand pieces" and conveyed that the pain he feels from this loss is unparalleled. His poignant post also conveyed the tragic news that his daughter and son-in-law had succumbed to the attack.
