Attorney Faces Arrest Over Accessing Voting Machines and Leaking Dominion Emails

Attorney Lambert arrested for accessing voting machines. Facing charges for disseminating confidential emails from Dominion Voting Systems. Legal battle continues.

On April 4th, 2022, attorney Stefanie Lambert was arrested in Washington, D.C. by U.S. Marshals following a hearing related to a separate case. The arrest stemmed from allegations of illegal access to Michigan voting machines after the 2020 election.

Arrest and Charges

Lambert, who had represented Patrick Byrne, a funder of election conspiracy theorists, was facing possible sanctions for disseminating confidential emails from Dominion Voting Systems. These emails were obtained in relation to a lawsuit filed by Dominion against Byrne for defamation. Lambert was also facing four felonies in Michigan for accessing voting machines in search of evidence regarding a conspiracy theory against former President Donald Trump.

In a statement, the Marshals office indicated that Lambert was arrested on "local charges," and a bench warrant had been issued after she missed a hearing in her Michigan case.

Disclosure of Dominion Emails

Earlier on the same day, Lambert acknowledged passing the Dominion emails to law enforcement and attached an affidavit, including some of the leaked emails, signed by Dar Leaf, a county sheriff in northern Michigan, who had investigated false claims of widespread election fraud from the 2020 election.

The rest of the documents were posted to a social platform, attributed to Leaf, but he did not respond to requests for comment. Lambert's attorney, Daniel Hartman, also did not provide immediate comments on the matter.

Reaction and Legal Actions

Patrick Byrne expressed his respect for Lambert, indicating that if she had indeed been arrested, he would hold her in even higher regard.

Dominion, on the other hand, filed a motion demanding Lambert be removed from the Byrne case, citing violations of a protective order issued by U.S. District Court Judge Moxila A. Upadhyaya. The company stressed that Lambert's actions had triggered a new wave of threats towards Dominion employees and urged for her disqualification from the case.

Further legal actions were also in motion, as the judge scheduled a subsequent hearing to determine potential sanctions against Lambert or her removal from the case.

Legal History and Ongoing Cases

Dominion had filed defamation lawsuits against prominent figures, including MyPillow founder Mike Lindell and attorney Sidney Powell, for spreading conspiracy theories regarding the 2020 election results. Notably, Fox News settled a prominent case with Dominion for $787 million last year.

The arrest of Stefanie Lambert and the subsequent legal actions indicate the ongoing repercussions of the controversies surrounding the 2020 election and the efforts to hold individuals accountable for their actions.
