Aunt expresses horror at court appearance of suspected child kidnapper

The man accused of the shocking kidnapping of a 9-year-old girl from an upstate New York park, Craig Ross Jr., 46, appeared in a New York courtroom and was deemed fit for trial.

The victim's aunt, Jene Sena, expressed her horror at seeing the accused in court and emphasized the need for justice to prevail. Ross pleaded not guilty to a nine-count indictment on kidnapping and sex abuse charges, with the victim's aunt asserting the family's determination to take things one day at a time. The case experienced a temporary pause when Ross' defense attorney recused himself to take a political job, with Matthew Maiello taking over as his new defense lawyer. The accused is scheduled to return to court on Feb. 21.
