Beloved Instructional Assistant Dies After Classroom Incident at Texas High School

A treasured educational assistant at a Texas high school passed away almost two weeks after sustaining an injury in a classroom. Alfred “Mr. Fred” Jimenez had been with the Northside Independent School District since 2014 and was working with students with cognitive disabilities. 

¿What happened in the Texas high school?

The incident occurred on February 7 at Brandeis High School as he attempted to redirect a student. During the interaction, Jimenez fell, sustaining a head injury. He was subsequently taken to a hospital and sadly passed away on Saturday, February 17.

The school district described Jimenez as an instructional assistant in the high school’s Applied Learning Environment classroom and stated that his impact was felt by both students and staff.
