Biden Campaign Denies 2024 Race Exit Rumors Amid Pressure from House Democrats

Despite mounting pressure from some House Democrats urging President Biden to step aside, the Biden campaign has firmly denied speculations that he may withdraw from the 2024 presidential race. The campaign released a memo, conducted interviews, and convened an all-staff call to reassert Biden's commitment to running for president.

Campaign's stance

Biden campaign chair O'Malley Dillon, in an interview with MSNBC's "Morning Joe," adamantly stated, "The president is in this race," emphasizing that Biden remains unwavering in his presidential bid. The campaign is resolutely directing its efforts towards Project 2025, the conservative strategy for a potential second term for Donald Trump, and the Republican nominee's track record. 

In a memo from Dan Kanninen, the battleground states director for the Biden campaign, he acknowledged the challenges ahead, stating, "We have our work cut out for us to win this November." Despite the obstacles, Kanninen highlighted the campaign's substantial opportunities and a clear path to victory, underscoring the importance of addressing the critical issues that resonate with the electorate in the battleground states. 

Dillon addressed the campaign's internal communication, stressing the significance of prioritizing direct voter engagement over polling figures. She emphasized that the voices advocating for President Biden's perseverance in the race resonate more profoundly than the narratives depicted in the media, urging the campaign to remain attuned to the sentiments of the broader electorate.

President's receptivity and deliberation

While grappling with the persistent calls for reconsideration, President Biden has been actively engaging with allies and absorbing feedback regarding his candidacy, demonstrating a receptiveness to internal and external perspectives. Allies, including Delaware Sen. Chris Coons, have affirmed the president's attentiveness to the multifaceted counsel and support he receives as he weighs the decision to continue his presidential bid.
