Bill Maher Grills Rep. Nancy Mace Over MAGA Flip-Flop and Trump's Influence
Bill Maher debates Rep. Nancy Mace's support for Trump, her shift from criticizing him, and her stance on Joe Biden's presidency.
During a recent appearance as a panelist on Real Time with Bill Maher, Rep. Nancy Mace (R-SC) discussed her shift towards Trump, attributing it largely to President Joe Biden and his policies, claiming that his administration has been “that bad.”
Possible Political Shift?
Bill Maher suggested that the shift in Mace's politics might be due to the changing demographics of her congressional district, pointing out that she won in 2022 by a larger margin than in 2020, prompting the question of whether the shift was influenced by the district's demographical changes.
Mace's Defense
Mace claimed that the reason for her increased margin of victory in 2022 was her strong advocacy for women after Roe v. Wade was overturned. She defended her position, stating that she is “very much the same person” as before.
Confrontation over Trump
Despite Mace's insistence on being the same person, Maher confronted her about her critical comments on Trump after the January 6 Capitol riots. Mace acknowledged being hard on Trump at that time but attributed her current position to the past three years under the Biden administration. When Maher probed about a potential refusal to certify the 2020 election results, Mace asserted that she would have certified the Electoral College in every state again, even if serving as vice president.
