Auto Parts Billionaire Frank Stronach Arrested on Sexual Assault Charges Spanning Decades
Austrian-Canadian billionaire Frank Stronach faces decades-spanning sexual assault charges; denies allegations and hires prominent Canadian defense lawyer.
Frank Stronach faces charges of rape, indecent assault on a female, sexual assault, and forcible confinement. He was released with conditions and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Brampton at a later date as confirmed by Peel Regional Police.
Constable Tyler Bell of Peel Regional Police has stated that there is more than one accuser involved in the case but did not disclose the exact number. The alleged sexual assaults are reported to have taken place from the 1980s up to as recent as 2023. The authorities have appealed to the public for information and urged potential victims to come forward.
Legal Representation and Denial of Allegations
Frank Stronach has sought legal representation from prominent Canadian defense lawyer Brian Greenspan. Greenspan has adamantly denied the allegations on behalf of his client, stating that Stronach firmly refutes the charges brought against him. He further affirmed Stronach's commitment to addressing the charges and upholding his standing as a philanthropist and Canadian business figure.
Born in Austria, Frank Stronach established Magna in 1957, which subsequently evolved into one of the world's leading auto parts suppliers. Additionally, he founded The Stronach Group, specializing in horse racing. Despite a brief venture into Austrian politics, Stronach's accomplishments garnered him recognition, including being named to the Order of Canada, one of the country's most esteemed honors.
Response from Magna
Magna, the company Stronach founded, stated that he has had no association with the company since relinquishing control in 2010. The company emphasized its lack of knowledge regarding the investigation and the allegations, beyond what has been reported in the media.
Previous Legal Disputes
In 2018, Stronach engaged in legal action against his daughter, two grandchildren, and former business associate, Alon Ossip, in Ontario Superior Court. The lawsuit sought over $500 million, alleging mismanagement of the family's assets. In response, Belinda Stronach, a former Canadian Member of Parliament, counter-sued her father, alleging significant financial losses on his part as a result of personal ventures.
