Border Gotaways Plummet 93% Under Trump's Presidency
Border Patrol gotaways have significantly decreased since President Trump returned to office, averaging 77 per day compared to over 1,800 during the Biden administration.

Since President Donald Trump's return to office, there has been a significant decrease in the number of gotaways at the U.S. border. According to data provided by a senior U.S. Customs and Border Protection source, the 21-day daily average of nationwide U.S. Border Patrol gotaways was just 77 as of March 12.
During the period from February 20 through March 12, the highest number of gotaways recorded in a single day was 110, while the lowest was 49. The total number of gotaways since January 21 is 5,889, including the nation's Southwest, Northern, and coastal borders.
A Dramatic Decrease Compared to Biden Administration
This marked decline in gotaways stands in stark contrast to the figures during the Biden administration. In fiscal year 2023, there were a staggering 670,674 known gotaways, averaging out to approximately 1,837 per day. This significant difference has been widely noted by politicians and commentators.
Senator Thom Tillis, R-N.C., declared on X, "THE TRUMP EFFECT," while the White House's rapid response X account celebrated with a post stating, "All we needed was a new President." The House Judiciary GOP X account also expressed gratitude, exclaiming, "Thank you, President Trump!"
The contrast in border security under the two administrations is evident. While during the Biden administration, the situation at the border was characterized by a surge in gotaways, the current numbers reflect a significant improvement in border control.
Impact on Border Security
The decrease in gotaways has had a positive impact on border security, allowing for more effective enforcement and reduction of illegal crossings. The focus on securing the border has also addressed concerns regarding public safety and national security.
As President Trump continues his efforts to strengthen border control, these new figures demonstrate the effectiveness of his policies in addressing the challenges at the U.S. border.
