British Prime Minister Urges Western Nations to Confiscate Frozen Russian Assets
Last month, British Investment Minister Dominic Johnson discussed the issue with U.S. Deputy Treasury Secretary Wally Adeyemo, emphasizing the importance of acting in accordance with international law.
Global actions on frozen Russian assets
The European Union, U.S., Japan, and Canada collectively froze around $300 billion of Russian central bank assets when Russia invaded Ukraine. The Group of Seven countries are considering seizing these assets as a means for Russia to compensate for the damage caused by its invasion.
Support for Ukraine
Sunak also urged the U.S. to continue providing financial and military support to Ukraine and expressed confidence in their ongoing support. Additionally, Britain's defense ministry announced an aid package of 245 million pounds ($311 million) to fund Ukrainian artillery ammunition.
