Law enforcement officials in Kern County, California, apprehended a man on Friday after he was observed leaving the site of a fatal Amtrak incident while allegedly carrying a severed leg. The individual, identified as 27-year-old Resendo Tellez, was apprehended and charged with tampering with evidence from the crime scene.

According to reports from FOX 58 in Bakersfield, the Kern County Sheriff’s Office, in conjunction with the BNSF Railroad police, reacted to reports of a pedestrian being struck by a train at an Amtrak station in Wasco around 8 a.m. on Friday. Unfortunately, the unidentified individual succumbed to the collision.
Alleged Actions of the Arrested Individual
Following the tragic incident, Tellez reportedly removed the pedestrian’s severed leg from the scene and was observed walking down the street with it. Subsequently, he was located and taken into custody by deputies without any resistance.
Legal Proceedings and Further Investigation
Tellez has been charged with tampering with evidence from the scene and it was discovered that he was the subject of several outstanding warrants.
