California Man Kidnaps, Assaults Elderly Woman in South Carolina Over Finances
A California man, Enver Marius Zueros, kidnapped and assaulted an elderly South Carolina woman who stopped financially supporting him after a distant online connection.

A California man with a history of alleged violent crimes has been arrested in South Carolina after being accused of kidnapping and assaulting an elderly woman who stopped providing him with financial assistance. Enver Marius Zueros, 34, is facing serious charges, including first-degree burglary, kidnapping, and attempted murder.
According to authorities, Zueros targeted the 89-year-old victim after she began donating money to charities instead of giving it to him. The suspect allegedly rented an Airbnb in the area and had a plan in place to attack her. This was not a random act of violence; Zueros knew exactly who he was targeting.
The Disturbing Attack
On Sunday, the elderly woman was found with her wrists bound with duct tape, a dog leash over her ankles, and a bag over her head. She had been left for dead, but fortunately, she survived the horrific ordeal. The victim sustained minor injuries but is recovering well.
A Neighbor's Suspicions
Zueros was inside the woman's home when a retired law enforcement neighbor became suspicious and rang the doorbell. Zueros gave a false name and claimed the victim was hospitalized after falling in the shower. However, the neighbor remained unconvinced and went to retrieve his gun. This alert action by the neighbor ultimately led to Zueros fleeing the scene.
The Arrest
Zueros fled the woman's home in her vehicle, but authorities later apprehended him. The victim was found restrained underneath the rear folding seats in her car floorboard. Zueros is currently being held in a local jail after being denied bond.
Political Fallout
U.S. Representative Nancy Mace (R-S.C.) publicly criticized California Governor Gavin Newsom on social media, blaming his state's policies for the incident. She accused Zueros of being a "traveling tr*nny and attempted murderer" from California and called on Newsom to take responsibility. Mace also highlighted that Zueros was out on bond for an attempted murder charge in California.
Legal Proceedings
The Summerville Police Chief, Doug Wright, stated during a news conference that Zueros will not see the light of day again and will spend the rest of his natural life in prison. The legal proceedings are ongoing, and the full extent of Zueros's alleged crimes is yet to be determined.
