California Woman Rescued After Being Stranded for 15 Hours in Rushing Water

A California woman was rescued on Tuesday after spending approximately 15 hours stranded on top of her overturned vehicle, which was partially submerged in rushing water on a flooded remote road in Livermore. The woman had attempted to cross a flooded road in the 7000 block of Del Valle Road at around 7:30 p.m. on Monday, underestimating the depth of the water, which caused her car to be swept away and overturned. As a result, she was forced to swim into the cold waters and climb on top of her car. Unfortunately, she lost her cell phone and was unable to call for help.

The operation rescue

Thankfully, on Tuesday morning, a camper in the area spotted the woman still stranded on top of her overturned car and promptly called for assistance. Firefighters initially prepared to perform a ladder rescue using a truck, but the California Highway Patrol intervened and facilitated the rescue with a helicopter. Despite enduring the cold for an extended period, the woman did not appear to be injured and was subsequently taken to a hospital for evaluation.
