In the midst of the looming expiration of a law that enables historical lawsuits, Guns N' Roses vocalist Axl Rose and actor Jamie Foxx have been accused of sexual assault. The allegations come as part of a wave of more than 2,500 lawsuits filed under New York's Adult Survivors Act, which permits individuals to litigate over past assaults. A former Penthouse model, Sheila Kennedy, has brought a lawsuit against Rose, alleging an incident dating back to 1989. Likewise, Jamie Foxx is facing a lawsuit filed by an anonymous woman who asserts that she was sexually assaulted by the actor at a New York rooftop lounge in 2015. Both individuals have denied the allegations. These cases add to a string of lawsuits under the expiring law, including accusations against other public figures like Nuno Lopes, Bill Cosby, Terry Richardson, and Jimmy Iovine. Additionally, Cuba Gooding Jr. is facing legal action from two women regarding alleged sexual misconduct, following his previous criminal prosecution. The mounting allegations against public figures raise questions about the use of historical windows in lawsuits and have drawn attention to the broader issue of addressing sexual misconduct in the industry.
