China Commerce Ministry Firmly Opposes US Sanctions on Chinese Enterprises for Russia-Related Reasons

China has strongly opposed the United States' decision to impose sanctions on Chinese enterprises for their alleged involvement in Russia-related activities. The Chinese Ministry of Commerce made this clear on Monday, asserting that China will take all necessary measures to protect the lawful rights and interests of Chinese companies.

The Commerce Ministry expressed its discontent in a statement published on its official website, stating that the sanctions are unjust and infringe upon the rights of Chinese enterprises. This reaction comes following the Biden administration's announcement on Friday of imposing new trade restrictions on 93 entities from several countries, including China, Russia, Turkey, the United Arab Emirates, Kyrgyzstan, India, and South Korea. These entities are accused of providing support to Russia's military operations in Ukraine.

The measures taken by the US essentially prohibit American shipments to the targeted entities. Among the 93 entities, eight are from China, 63 from Russia, 16 from Turkey, and four from the UAE. This move by the US coincided with the second anniversary of Russia's invasion of Ukraine.

China's Response

Beijing has vowed to defend the rights of its companies and stated that it will not sit idly by in the face of what it perceives as unwarranted aggression towards its enterprises. The strong language used in China's response indicates the seriousness with which it views the situation.

While the exact nature of the "necessary measures" mentioned in the statement is yet to be specified, it is clear that China is determined to protect its economic interests and stand up against what it perceives as unjust actions by the United States.
