China's military maneuvers come as a response to Taiwan's push for formal independence, which China vehemently opposes.

The absence of an operational name for the drills and the lack of prior notice to neighboring countries has raised concerns about China's intentions. The U.S. and Japan have agreed to accelerate plans to jointly develop and produce missiles to address a shortage of munitions. Additionally, the two countries are enhancing their military coordination and operations, with Japan launching the Japan Joint Operations Command (JJOC) to better synchronize its defense forces with U.S. military operations in the region.
