Cross-Border Attack Causes Fire at Oil Facility

An oil storage depot in western Russia was struck by an unidentified drone, igniting a massive fire, officials confirmed. The incident occurred near the Ukrainian border, causing significant damage to four oil reservoirs. This attack is seen as part of an ongoing effort by Ukrainian forces to disrupt Russian activities and unsettle President Vladimir Putin's administration ahead of the upcoming election. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has expressed intentions to increase such strikes on Russian territory. The city of Belgorod, close to the Ukrainian border, has even canceled public events due to the perceived threat of drone strikes. Additionally, reports suggest that a gunpowder mill in Tambov, south of Moscow, was also targeted, although Russian officials have denied any damage. Another drone was reportedly intercepted near St. Petersburg. The drone attack in Klintsy was electronically interfered with by Russian air defenses, preventing it from causing casualties. Videos circulating on social media showed the extensive damage caused by the fire. This is not the first time this facility has been targeted, as a similar incident occurred last year.
