David Lynch, director of "Twin Peaks," announced he has emphysema but won't retire, acknowledging the consequences of his smoking habit.

David Lynch, the renowned co-creator of the iconic series “Twin Peaks” and the visionary director behind “Mulholland Drive” and “Blue Velvet,” shared with his fans on Monday that he had been diagnosed with emphysema but clarified that he has no intention of retiring from his creative pursuits.
Emphysema Diagnosis
The 78-year-old filmmaker, in a social media post, confirmed the diagnosis that he had previously revealed during an interview featured in the September issue of Sight and Sound, a monthly film magazine published by the British Film Institute. In addition to the diagnosis, Mr. Lynch mentioned that his mobility had been limited, and he could only continue directing projects remotely.
Smoking and Emphysema
No sooner had Mr. Lynch's words circulated in various publications than he took to social media to address the matter directly with his followers. He stated, “Yes, I have emphysema from my many years of smoking. I have to say that I enjoyed smoking very much, and I do love tobacco - the smell of it, lighting cigarettes on fire, smoking them - but there is a price to pay for this enjoyment, and the price for me is emphysema.”
Despite the challenges posed by the diagnosis, Mr. Lynch's unwavering commitment to his craft is evident as he emphatically conveyed his lack of plans to retire.
