Delta Airlines Passenger Locked in Airplane Bathroom for 35 Minutes

On Friday, March 29, an unusual situation occurred during a United Airlines flight bound for New Jersey. The flight, identified as United Airlines flight 85, was originally departing from Tel Aviv, Israel. However, the plane was diverted to New York Stewart International Airport in New Windsor, New York due to unforeseen circumstances.

The United Airlines flight 85 landed safely at the New York Stewart International Airport around 6:45 p.m.. This diversion was a result of high winds reported at the intended destination, Newark Liberty International Airport. Additionally, there was a sick passenger on board, which led to the decision to divert the flight.

Passenger Hospitalizations and Medical Response

Following the unexpected turn of events, at least six people from the flight were hospitalized as a result of the situation. This prompted the response of twenty-five EMTs and paramedics to the New Windsor airport. The New Windsor EMS agency reported that six individuals were taken to hospitals as a result of the incident. Although a United spokesperson stated that there was no "extreme turbulence," several passengers were treated for minor ailments and motion sickness.

The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) has initiated an investigation into the unusual circumstances surrounding United Airlines flight 85's diversion. The investigation aims to shed light on the factors that contributed to the need for the flight's unexpected landing at New York Stewart International Airport.

Despite the unexpected events, the flight was refueled and resumed its journey to Newark after addressing the situation at New York Stewart International Airport. In total, the flight carried 310 passengers and crew, some of whom required medical attention following the diversion.
