Democratic Strategist Questions Trump's Cognitive Test Claims on Fox News
Concerns about Donald Trump's mental acuity were raised on Fox News, with references to a cognitive test and calls for President Biden to take it.
Donald Trump's Mental Acuity Questioned on Fox News
During a recent segment of The Five on Fox News, there was a discussion about the mental acuity of former President Donald Trump. Democratic strategist Jessica Tarlov raised questions about Trump's mental sharpness in contrast to President Biden.
Trump's Mention of a Mental Acuity Test
Co-host Jeanine Pirro mentioned that Trump had taken a mental acuity test and performed well, and questioned why President Biden hadn't taken the same test. Jessica Tarlov responded by expressing her concerns about this particular test, stating that it is typically given to individuals who have been in traumatic accidents and suggesting that it was embarrassing for Trump to mention it.
Trump's Description of the Test
Donald Trump has mentioned the mental acuity test on multiple occasions, describing it as consisting of 30 or 35 questions that vary in difficulty. He provided an example of the questions, including identifying certain words in order and claimed to have aced the test.
Republican House Members Call on Biden to Take the Test
In June 2021, fourteen Republican members of the House urged President Joe Biden to take the same mental acuity test that Trump had taken. The letter advocating for the test was signed by individuals including former White House physician Ronny Jackson, who is now a Texas House Republican representative.
Ronny Jackson's Previous Statements about Trump's Cognitive Test
Dr. Ronny Jackson, during his tenure as the White House physician, had stated in 2018 that Donald Trump had achieved a perfect score on a cognitive test, and emphasized that there was no reason to believe that the president had any cognitive issues.
Recent Developments Involving Ronny Jackson
However, Dr. Jackson's credibility has been called into question as he was recently demoted by the US Navy due to substantiated allegations of inappropriate conduct, including the use of alcohol. A Navy spokesperson highlighted that the allegations did not align with the Navy's leadership standards, and administrative action was taken in July 2022 in response to the findings of a Department of Defense Office of Inspector General investigation.
