Diddy appeals judge's decision to deny bail in sex trafficking case

Sean "Diddy" Combs' lawyers plan to appeal his detention without bail for sex trafficking and other charges, denying the allegations and vowing to prove his innocence.

Sean "Diddy" Combs' legal team intends to challenge a recent federal court decision that denied him bail in his New York sex trafficking case. U.S. Magistrate Judge Robyn Tarnofsky agreed with prosecutors' request to hold Combs without bail after his indictment on sex trafficking, racketeering conspiracy, and transportation to engage in prostitution charges. Combs pleaded not guilty during the federal court appearance in lower Manhattan.

Combs is currently detained at a federal facility in Brooklyn, New York. U.S. District Judge Andrew Carter Jr. is set to hear the appeal later this week. Combs' attorney, Marc Agnifilo, has denied the allegations and expressed a commitment to pursuing Combs' release, asserting that his client will eventually be proven innocent. Prosecutors assert that Combs operated his business empire as a means to perpetrate his alleged abuse of women at events referred to as "Freak Offs." These events reportedly spanned multiple days and involved numerous commercial sex workers, alongside the administration of narcotics like ketamine, ecstasy, and GHB to the victims to ensure compliance.

Additional Legal Troubles

The legal issues surrounding Combs extend beyond the sex trafficking charges. The indictment also encompasses accusations that Combs utilized firearms to intimidate and threaten potential victims and witnesses, as revealed by federal authorities' previous raids on his residences in Los Angeles and Miami in March. Moreover, an incident captured on hotel security footage in 2016 reportedly depicts Combs involved in a physical altercation with his former girlfriend, singer Cassie, in a Los Angeles hotel corridor.

Apology and Legal Settlement

In May, Combs publicly apologized for his behavior during the hotel incident, labeling it as "inexcusable" and accepting "full responsibility" for his actions. Furthermore, in November, Cassie, legally known as Casandra Ventura, lodged a lawsuit against Combs, accusing him of rape and abuse throughout their relationship, a claim he denied. However, the matter was resolved with a settlement the following day.
