A security guard, whose video went viral for singing along at a concert, alleges that he has been fired by the company he was employed with. Calvin Denker gained attention after joining Taylor Swift on stage during her performance of "Cruel Summer" in Minneapolis, Minnesota. However, Denker informed his TikTok followers that he was subsequently terminated by BEST, his former employer. Image: Pic: AP Although Denker's singing was not the issue, his employers were reportedly displeased that he had distributed notes to audience members requesting photos or videos of himself with the singer. In a video posted on social media, Denker shared, "In short, I was fired for it. My previous security company claimed they had a rule against taking photos with performers... Every photo of me that night was taken from behind the barricade, just like any other fan's photo. I never used my own phone. And most importantly, I ensured Taylor Swift's safety and the enjoyment of all fans." Denker concluded his message by asking his followers to refrain from criticizing the company, stating, "I still got to work one of the most amazing concerts ever... so that is fantastic. I bear no grudges against my employer." TikTok This content is provided by TikTok, which may be using cookies and other technologies. To show you this content, we need your permission to use cookies. I spoke to many security guards that night, learning about their roles and how they could attend concerts and sporting events in Minneapolis. It sounded amazing to me." After the first night, I realized how close Taylor Swift was getting to me, so I wanted to capture the moment in a photo." Denker distributed small notes that stated he was not allowed to use his phone, but if Swift appeared behind him, he requested attendees to take a photo and send it to his number. "I handed these notes to a few individuals in the front row for the second night, and they were courteous and understanding about it."
