Over the past weekend, a dramatic rescue operation took place in a Bangkok suburb, where more than two dozen dogs were saved from a harrowing ordeal. The animals had been left to fend for themselves for several days after their owner's passing, resorting to desperate measures for survival.

The Tragic Discovery

The distressing chain of events began with the untimely death of 62-year-old Attapol Charoenpithak, who suffered from serious medical conditions including diabetes and hypertension. Tragically, the dogs found themselves trapped inside the house, with no means of escape or source of sustenance, for at least a week following their owner's demise.

A Concerned Neighbor Takes Action

The grim situation was brought to light when a vigilant neighbor raised the alarm. After noticing that Attapol's car had remained stationary for an unusual period, the neighbor alerted the authorities. Suspicions were further aroused when repeated attempts to make contact with Attapol went unanswered, despite the lights being on in the house.

The Rescue Operation

Upon entering the premises, the police were met with a shocking sight. The house was in a deplorable state, strewn with garbage and dog excrement as the dogs roamed the compound in a bid for survival. Recognizing the urgent need for intervention, the authorities wasted no time in reaching out to an esteemed animal rescue organization, the Voice Foundation, to orchestrate a complex rescue mission.

The Voice Foundation heroically rescued a total of 28 dogs from the dire circumstances, although sadly, two of the animals had already succumbed to the extreme lack of food. The organization, in a statement shared on social media, revealed that the initially reported 15 dogs surrounding Attapol's body turned out to be more widespread, with the charity workers discovering the animals scattered throughout the property.

The dogs, a mix of chihuahua and Shih Tzu breeds, were visibly< strong>traumatized when rescuers arrived, as evidenced in a harrowing video disseminated by the foundation. The organization affirmed its commitment to ensuring the well-being of the canines, stating that all 28 dogs were subsequently transferred to a medical facility for a thorough assessment, treatment, and spaying before being< strong>placed in suitable homes.

It was revealed that the dogs' sole means of survival during this ordeal had been to consume the remains of their deceased owner, a testament to the extreme circumstances they had endured.

Supawadee Srithassanakarn, a prominent figure at theVoice Foundation shared that prior to the tragic event, complaints had been lodged regarding Attapol's treatment of the animals. Allegations suggested that Attapol had been confining the dogs in cages while exposing them to extreme heat, prompting worries from animal welfare activists.

Appeal for Assistance

The Voice Foundation disclosed that the dogs' condition on rescue was extremely precarious, with the animals displaying manifestations of severe malnourishment and dehydration. In light of this, the organization issued an urgent appeal for support from the community, seeking donations to facilitate the comprehensive care and rehabilitation of the dogs.
