Donald Trump Vows to Grant Green Cards to Foreign College Graduates in America

During a recent podcast appearance with Silicon Valley investor David Sacks, former President Donald J. Trump announced a major policy shift regarding immigration for high-skilled workers and students in the United States. Trump stated that he plans to propose a program that would grant green cards automatically to foreign college students upon their graduation. This marks a significant reversal from the immigration restrictions imposed during his presidency.

Acknowledging High Levels of Immigration

While appearing on the podcast, Trump reiterated his critique of the current levels of immigration, describing it as an "invasion of our country." Despite this stance, he was pressed by Jason Calacanis, another investor and podcast host, to provide assurances on enabling the import of the best and brightest talents to America. In response, Trump expressed his agreement and assured that he would implement the proposed green card policy, extending it even to graduates from junior colleges.

Trump also revealed that he had intended to enforce this policy during his presidency, but the Covid-19 pandemic hindered its execution. The Trump administration leveraged the pandemic as a reason to enact various immigration restrictions that had been planned earlier in his term.
