Elon Musk's unplanned meeting with Donald Trump sparked speculation but he clarified he won't endorse or fund him. Musk also denied loaning money to Trump.

Elon Musk's Unplanned Meeting with Donald Trump
On March 3, Elon Musk spoke in an interview with former CNN anchor Don Lemon, shedding light on his unplanned meeting with Donald Trump in Florida. The Tesla and SpaceX CEO clarified that the meeting was not premeditated and that he was not approached by Trump to contribute to his presidential campaign.
Unplanned Encounter
Musk explained that the encounter took place during a breakfast at a friend's residence in Florida, with Trump unexpectedly dropping by. Musk emphasized that he had not intended to meet with the former president and was merely staying at a friend's house when Trump was invited for breakfast.
Trump's Monologue
During the interview, Musk disclosed that Trump dominated the conversation during the breakfast, with Musk characterizing the discussion as unremarkable. According to Musk, Trump's dialogues were not particularly groundbreaking or new, reiterating that it was merely a casual breakfast gathering.
No Financial Requests
Musk clarified that Trump did not solicit any monetary support or donations during their interaction. He explicitly stated, "I'm not paying his legal bills in any way, shape, or form … and he did not ask me for money."
Public Declaration
Following the meeting with Trump, Musk publicly declared that he had no intentions of financially backing either Trump or the Democratic incumbent President Joe Biden. He reiterated this stance on the social media platform X, asserting that he had no plans to donate to any presidential candidate.
Endorsement and Final Decision
When questioned about endorsing a presidential candidate, Musk indicated that he might consider endorsing a candidate "in the final stretch," although he clarified that he had not made a final decision. He also expressed a lack of inclination towards any specific candidate, mentioning, "I'm leaning away from Biden," in a light-hearted manner.
Moreover, Musk revealed that he had not made a final decision about endorsing a candidate and emphasized that he did not want to exert significant monetary influence.
Post-Interview Development
Interestingly, it was later disclosed that Musk canceled a show hosting deal he had previously arranged with Don Lemon on X, merely hours after the interview was recorded on March 8.
