Challenges of Enforcing Sanctions

Although the U.S. State Department said it uses export controls, sanctions, and law enforcement actions to prevent North Korea from acquiring technology for its weapons programs, experts highlight the difficulties in controlling the export of commercial electronic components and the reliance of countries like North Korea, Russia, and Iran on imported technology.
