FAA Mandates Inspections of 2,600 Boeing 737 Planes Due to Oxygen Mask Concerns

The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) announced on Monday that it will be mandating inspections for a total of 2,600 Boeing 737 airplanes. This decision comes after concerns were raised regarding potential failures of passenger oxygen masks during emergency situations.

The FAA has explained that the inspections are being mandated for both 737 MAX and NG airplanes due to multiple reports of passenger service unit oxygen generators shifting out of position. This issue raises the possibility of being unable to provide supplemental oxygen to passengers in the event of a depressurization.
