
Fatal Four-Vehicle Collision Leaves One Dead on Kansas City Interstate 70
A four-vehicle collision on I-70 near Manchester Avenue resulted in one fatality. The driver of a gold Chevrolet Equinox caused the crash.

Saturday night turned tragic when a fatal four-vehicle collision occurred in Kansas City, resulting in the loss of one life.
Details of the Collision
According to Officer Alayna Gonzalez, a spokesperson for the Kansas City Police Department, the collision took place around 7:38 p.m. on eastbound Interstate 70 near Manchester Avenue. The sequence of events involved a gold Chevrolet Equinox, a black Toyota Camry, a black Ford Expedition, and a black Ford F150.
The Equinox was reportedly speeding on I-70 when it collided with the Camry, Expedition, and F150. The impact was so intense that it caused the Expedition to overturn, rolling over the top of the Toyota and down an embankment.
Fatal Consequences
Tragically, the driver of the Expedition, who was not wearing a seat belt, was ejected onto the highway shoulder and was pronounced dead at the scene.
Fortunately, the driver of the Toyota and the occupants of the F-150 did not sustain any injuries. However, the driver of the Chevrolet sustained non-life-threatening injuries and is currently in stable condition after being transported to a hospital.
Investigation and Road Closure
Law enforcement is actively investigating the circumstances of the crash, including the possibility of impairment being a contributing factor. All lanes of eastbound I-70 were closed at Manchester for approximately three hours but have since been reopened to traffic.
Statistical Comparison
Tragically, this incident marks the 45th road fatality in Kansas City this year, an increase from the 32 fatalities reported at the same time last year, according to the data provided by the police department.
