The calamity unfolded when a massive billboard collapsed onto a group of individuals seeking refuge, resulting in multiple fatalities, according to local authorities.
Following the catastrophe, teams from India’s national disaster force and local law enforcement mobilized to extricate numerous people trapped beneath the debris, particularly in the eastern suburb of Ghatkopar. Shocking footage circulating on social media captured the harrowing moment when the billboard, buffeted by the ferocious storm, succumbed and plummeted to the ground. An eyewitness, Swapnil Khupte, recounted that while seeking shelter at a nearby gas station, the collapse of the billboard tragically claimed the lives of numerous women and children, leaving a profound impact on the community.
