Fire at Air Force Academy Grounds Prompts Response from Colorado Springs Fire Department
The Colorado Springs Fire Department (CSFD) reported an ongoing fire on the Air Force Academy (AFA) grounds on Sunday afternoon. The CSFD stated that they were providing mutual aid for the fire burning on the AFA grounds, with a total of 31 CSFD personnel responding to the scene.
Location and Response
The fire was situated on the south end of the academy, north of the Pine Housing area, as confirmed by the AFA. Guests and residents were urged to steer clear of the area and comply with instructions from first responders. While no evacuation orders were issued at the time of the report, the situation was being continually monitored.
CSFD Units and Assistance
Several CSFD units were dispatched to the scene, including Wildland 4, Brush 15, Brush 20, Brush 22, Battalion Chief 4 and Special Operations Unit 52. Their collective efforts were focused on containing and extinguishing the fire to prevent any further escalation.
