Florida Man Allegedly Attacks Fiancé Over Political Argument, Second Arrest in 10 Days
Florida man attacks fiancé over political disagreement, previously assaulted neighbor. Arrested twice in 10 days. Charged with multiple offenses.

On a recent Wednesday March 22, a 70-year-old man in North Fort Meyers, Florida, was involved in a violent altercation with his fiancée, reportedly due to their differing political views. The man, identified as "John," allegedly grabbed his fiancée's neck and squeezed, leading to a call for help from the woman, a self-identified "Democrat."
Heated Political Debate Escalates
According to an affidavit obtained by Fox News Digital, the couple had been engaged for 25 years. However, on this specific day, their ongoing political arguments led to a physical confrontation. The verbal altercation intensified as the man began to insult the woman by calling her names based on her political affiliation. Subsequently, he held her down on the couch, placing his hand on her face and the other around her neck, resulting in her inability to breathe.
Law enforcement officers, upon arrival, noted red marks on the woman's neck, consistent with her report of the incident.
Previous Arrest and Charges
Interestingly, this was not the first instance of the man's violent behavior. Just 10 days prior, he had been arrested for attacking a neighbor and wielding a pocket knife. The charges included aggravated assault with a deadly weapon without intent to kill, battery touch or strike, battery by strangulation, and resisting an officer. As a consequence, the man is currently detained in the county jail, as confirmed by jail records.
