Florida Man Arrested for Dangling and Dropping Child Off Hotel Balcony

Brandon Gilmore, 31, was arrested and charged with aggravated child abuse after an incident at the Sandlewood Resort in Daytona Beach.

Gilmore had met a woman at the hotel pool just five hours before the incident. He asked for permission to take her son outside to play and "scare him a little bit." Witnesses reported seeing Gilmore dangling the child over the balcony and then dropping him headfirst from the second-story balcony. It was confirmed that both Gilmore and the woman had been drinking all day at the pool.

Video Surveillance and Child's Condition

Video surveillance captured the incident, corroborating witness statements and Gilmore's account. Fortunately, the child is expected to have no long-term health issues as a result of the traumatic event and has already been discharged from the hospital.

Gilmore is currently held in custody at the Volusia County Jail without bond, as per online jail records.
