Florida man arrested for mocking woman with Down syndrome at Disney World bar

On January 25, 2024, a Florida man, Brent George, was arrested and charged with four counts of battery after causing a physical altercation at Belle Vue Lounge, a bar inside Disney's Boardwalk Inn. The Orange County Sheriff's Office reported that officers responded to a fight at the bar, where George was allegedly intoxicated and had sustained injuries to his face, claiming he was hit by a glass cup.

Alleged Provocation and Altercation

According to the affidavit obtained by Fox News Digital, George, accompanied by his wife and two friends, had been at the bar and had consumed alcohol before the incident. It was reported that George began mocking a couple's daughter, who has Down syndrome and uses a wheelchair. When the girl's mother confronted George, he allegedly shoved her and subsequently slapped another guest who tried to intervene. An altercation ensued further when the woman's husband stepped in, and George allegedly punched him in the neck. In response, the husband punched George in the head.

George claimed he did not recall the specific events due to being intoxicated and alleged that he was attacked by the individuals. However, a witness mentioned seeing someone throw a glass cup at George and heard threats of harm directed at him. Despite this, no broken glass was found at the scene, and it was determined that a glass cup was not used in the altercation. An unidentified bystander intervened and removed George from the scene, after which he was evaluated by medical staff for his injuries and subsequently taken to Orange County Jail.

Following the incident, George pleaded not guilty to all four battery charges in February, and a scheduled hearing in March was canceled, as per court records. The case remains open as the legal process unfolds.
