A manhunt is currently in progress in Florida following the daring escape of a handcuffed suspect, who fled from a hospital in a waiting Maserati on Saturday.

Suspect escapes Miami hospital after complaining of chest pains

The suspect, identified as Theodric Collins, was apprehended by U.S. Customs and Border Patrol at the Port of Miami due to multiple out-of-state warrants, as reported by the Miami-Dade Police Department. However, while in custody, Collins complained of chest pains and was subsequently taken to Jackson Memorial Hospital for evaluation. Surprisingly, he was medically cleared just before 2:30 p.m.

As a Miami-Dade officer was preparing to transport Collins to the department's Warrants Bureau, he seized the opportunity to escape to a waiting silver Maserati parked outside, all while still in handcuffs.

The escape vehicle, identified as a (silver Maserati) with an Alabama license plate, was last detected by a license plate reader in Jupiter, Florida. Authorities are now on the lookout for the suspect and the vehicle.

Physical Description of the Suspect

Investigators have provided a description of Collins, stating that he stands 5 feet 9 inches tall with a medium build.

Collins has a record of prior arrests, including felony shoplifting, reckless driving, fleeing from police, and property theft in Mississippi. Furthermore, in 2023, he was reportedly apprehended in Alabama for allegedly leading police on a high-speed chase. However, authorities have not disclosed any further details regarding the specific warrants for Collins.
