INDIANA SHERIFF IMPLEMENTS NEW POLICIES AFTER DEPUTY'S DEATH DURING ESCAPE ATTEMPT The current sheriff, Scottie Maples, who previously served as a deputy chief under Noel, initiated a state police investigation after uncovering irregularities following his assumption of office in December. Maples reported finding a covert recording device in the sheriff's offices, and evidence suggested that Noel instructed employees to perform personal tasks at his rental property and private business establishments, including maintenance work on vehicles and even a home. The employees were allegedly engaged in these activities while receiving payment for their official duties at the sheriff's office. In response to the allegations, Zachary Stewart, Noel’s attorney, declined to comment on behalf of his client.
