Former New York Governor Kathy Hochul Aide Linda Sun Arrested After FBI Home Raid
Former NY Gov. aide Linda Sun and husband arrested after misconduct allegations; Hochul's office stated no connection to arrest.
A former aide to New York Governor Kathy Hochul, Linda Sun, and her husband, Chris Hu, were arrested at their Long Island home. The FBI had previously searched their residence in July. However, officials have not linked the arrest to the governor's office or Hochul's work. Avi Small, Hochul's press secretary, stated that Sun was terminated in March 2023 for misconduct, and the matter was reported to law enforcement.
Linda Sun arrested months after FBI
Sun had approximately 15 years of experience in state government before her dismissal as the deputy commissioner for strategic business development at the New York State Department of Labor. Her past roles included serving as Hochul's deputy chief of staff and working in the administration of former Governor Andrew Cuomo.
The charges against Sun and Hu remained sealed until their expected appearance in Brooklyn federal court. The arrests were confirmed by federal prosecutors from the Eastern District of New York and the FBI. Following the arrests, a recent photograph showed New York Gov. Kathy Hochul addressing the press after a meeting with President Joe Biden and other Democratic governors at the White House in Washington, D.C., on July 3, 2024. The incident has attracted significant media attention, highlighting the complexities of high-level government positions and the potential implications of misconduct.
