The teenager was allegedly picked up by his parents from a relative's home in Cleveland, Ohio, but was not present when the police pulled over their car shortly afterward.
Allegations of Domestic Battery
Indiana State Police were contacted by the Cass County Department of Child Services to investigate allegations of domestic battery after the boy's grandmother reported that his father had given him a black eye and a split lip. Bryson's parents initially cooperated with the authorities but later backed out of an agreement to bring Bryson to meet with investigators.
A silver alert has been issued for Bryson Muir, as he is considered "missing and endangered." It has been reported that the case is ongoing and no charges have been filed as of yet.
Grandmother's Account
Bryson's grandmother, Cheryl Wright, mentioned that it was from her home Bryson was last seen leaving. She contacted the police after observing her grandson with visible injuries, including a black eye, fat lip, and swollen face. Wright stated that Bryson mentioned his father was responsible for the injuries and expressed that he believed he deserved it.
According to reports, police were informed that Bryson was likely moved into another vehicle in the short time between leaving his grandmother's home and being pulled over by local police. The authorities described Bryson as 6 feet, 2 inches tall, 185 pounds, with black hair and brown eyes.
Unsuccessful Attempts to Reach Parents
NBC News made several unsuccessful attempts to reach Daniel and Kristen Muir for comments regarding the abuse allegations. Additionally, the Muirs were not reachable through the numbers listed for them in public records, and they did not respond to email inquiries.
Daniel Muir, a former NFL defensive tackle who played for several teams between 2007 and 2014, including the Indianapolis Colts for four seasons. Following his retirement, he delivered motivational speeches, as reported by the Indianapolis Star.
