Former WWE wrestler Billy Jack Haynes in custody for alleged involvement in wife's death

William Albert “Billy Jack” Haynes Jr., known for his career in the wrestling world, has been taken into police custody in connection with the death of his wife, Janette Becraft, in Portland. 

The Portland police stated that Haynes, 70, is currently in their custody at a local hospital but is undergoing treatment for a medical condition unrelated to the case or his encounter with law enforcement. The authorities mentioned that charges related to the case would be disclosed once Haynes is booked into the jail.

Incident details and police response

Haynes was identified as the suspect in the fatal shooting of his wife, Janette Becraft, 85. The authorities responded to reports of a shooting in a Portland neighborhood and requested assistance from various specialized teams, including crisis negotiators. According to KGW-TV, Haynes was detained after a two-hour negotiation, during which time Becraft was found dead inside their home.

A police representative declined to address inquiries regarding the case and whether Haynes had been released from the hospital, underscoring the ongoing nature of the investigation. Additionally, it remains uncertain whether Haynes has legal representation to speak on his behalf.

The police have indicated that Becraft's family has requested privacy during this challenging time.
