Four climbers missing from Mont Blanc summit found dead
Four climbers from Italy and South Korea died on Mont Blanc after going missing; bad weather hampered rescue efforts, authorities reported.

On Tuesday, the lifeless bodies of four climbers were discovered on the summit of Mont Blanc, the towering pinnacle of the Alps, as confirmed by French authorities in the region. The climbers, hailing from Italy and South Korea, had been unaccounted for since Saturday.
Boris Duffau, a public prosecutor in Bonneville, France, reported via email that law enforcement officials located the remains of two South Korean climbers, aged 45 and 53, after rescue personnel deployed to the mountain via helicopter on Tuesday afternoon. The two Italian climbers, aged 40 and 53, were found approximately an hour later, according to him.
Rescue Efforts Hampered by Weather
The Chamonix P.G.H.M., the security and rescue service responsible for responding to emergencies on Mont Blanc, received an alert at around 5 p.m. on Saturday regarding individuals in distress on the Three Mounts route of Mont Blanc, situated on the French side of the Alps bordering Italy. However, bad weather conditions impeded a rescue helicopter from landing at the site, as stated by Mr. Duffau.
The following day, two officers aboard a helicopter were able to rescue two stranded Korean climbers, Mr. Duffau recounted. Unfortunately, search-and-rescue teams were unable to resume their efforts due to the deteriorating weather, which also precluded any further rescues on Monday.
