The Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office is currently probing into the fourth traffic death that occurred over the Labor Day weekend due to a truck accident in North Jacksonville.
Fatal Truck Accident on Labor Day
The incident took place around 6:30 p.m. Monday night, when a Dodge RAM 1500 Crew Cab truck, carrying five people, was involved in a crash on Dunn Creek Road. The driver, while heading west at the 14200 block, reportedly made a 90-degree turn and was unable to negotiate it, causing the vehicle to veer off the road, breach a barrier, and collide with a tree.
Tragically, an 18-year-old girl sitting in the front passenger seat lost her life in the accident. Despite her friend’s attempts to perform CPR, she was pronounced dead at the scene by the Jacksonville Fire Rescue Department.
Details on the Victims
The remaining four occupants of the truck, aged between 17 to 22, were unharmed and did not require hospitalization. The crash occurred prior to the onset of rains, and the authorities are examining the circumstances surrounding the incident.
