The Fresno County Coroner’s Office has confirmed the identity of the victim in a fatal two-vehicle accident that occurred on Thursday night. Details of the Accident

The incident took place at the intersection of Highway 41 and South Avenue near Easton at 9:47 p.m. The California Highway Patrol reported that the collision occurred when a 57-year-old driver of a semi truck, loaded with grapefruit, came to a stop in the westbound lane of South Avenue, as he was preparing to make a left turn. The truck driver then proceeded to cross the northbound lanes and halted in the intersection to allow southbound traffic to clear before completing the left turn. Unfortunately, the trailer of the truck obstructed the No. 1 northbound lane of Highway 41, leading to the collision with Gonzalez’s Nissan that was traveling northbound.

Tragically, Gonzalez, who was not wearing a seat belt at the time of the collision, succumbed to his injuries at the scene. The California Highway Patrol has stated that it is currently unclear whether alcohol or drugs played a role in the accident and that the investigation is ongoing.
