
Fugitive Escapes Courthouse, Caught After Barricading in Chicago Restaurant Near DNC
A man who escaped a Mississippi courthouse was captured in Chicago after barricading himself in a restaurant near the Democratic National Convention.

After nearly 70 days on the run, a man who escaped from a Mississippi courthouse has been apprehended by law enforcement. The individual, identified as Joshua Zimmerman, was holed up overnight inside a Chicago restaurant located less than a mile from the site of the Democratic National Convention, according to authorities.
Inmate Who Escaped Mississippi Courthouse
Zimmerman made his daring escape on June 14 from the DeSoto County Courthouse in Hernando, Mississippi, just before his scheduled hearing. Following his disappearance, the U.S. Marshals Service received a tip-off about his whereabouts, leading them to a seafood restaurant in Chicago, where he was reportedly employed.
The Capture
The DeSoto County Sheriff's Office was informed of Zimmerman's location on Tuesday afternoon by the U.S. Marshals Service. Subsequently, law enforcement apprehended him on Wednesday morning. During the initial arrest attempt, Zimmerman took refuge in the ceiling and attempted to barricade himself, but was ultimately taken into custody.
