Georgia Police Rescue Woman Trapped in Car on Top of Covered Pool

In a dramatic turn of events, Georgia police officers were captured rescuing a woman who found herself trapped inside a car that had crashed and come to a rest on top of a covered swimming pool. The incident took place in a gated community in Kennesaw, just outside of Atlanta, in late February.
911 Audio and Arrival of Officers
An audio recording of the 911 call released by the Cobb County Police Department revealed the urgency of the situation. A distressed woman informed the dispatcher that a car had crashed through the pool fence and she was left in the middle of the pool. The caller expressed concern about the integrity of the pool cover, stating, "I don't know how long the covering is going to hold."
Bodycam footage showed officers arriving at the scene where a man, presumably a bystander, was standing next to the vehicle, providing crucial information to the officers. He mentioned that the driver had been sporadically holding her head up.
Police Intervention
Upon assessing the situation, a Cobb County police officer took swift action by breaking open the rear driver-side window of the vehicle. With no response from the driver, the officer proceeded to open the front door, revealing the driver slumped over in the front seat.
Despite the challenging conditions, the officer reassured the driver, "It's cold in here okay? We're going to get out. Come on, let's go. You’re going to come with me."
Successful Rescue and Medical Assistance
Subsequently, the police successfully extracted the woman from the pool and provided her with blankets. Following initial treatment at the scene, the driver was then transported to a local hospital where she is expected to make a full recovery.
Driver's Medical Emergency
The Cobb County Police Department disclosed that the driver's actions were the result of a medical emergency, underscoring the circumstances that led to the unusual crash. Furthermore, the vehicle was later removed from the pool with the assistance of a tow truck.
