A fatal crash involving a German-registered plane occurred in Vadul lui Voda, a small town situated approximately 23 kilometers (14 miles) east of the capital Chisinau, on Sunday morning. The plane, identified as a Socata TB20 ultra-light aircraft, went down shortly before 10 a.m. local time (0800 GMT), resulting in the tragic loss of the lone pilot on board, according to the Civil Aviation Authority.
Investigation Underway
No passengers were present on the ill-fated flight, and an immediate investigation has been launched to ascertain the causes of the accident. Visual evidence shared online portrays the devastated and scorched remains of the aircraft, which seemingly came to rest on the roof of a detached property. The authorities reported that, upon contact with the ground, the aircraft was consumed by flames; however, emergency teams were swift to respond and successfully extinguished the fire. Tragically, a charred body was subsequently discovered within the wreckage.
