Google Ditches Diversity Targets Amid Trump Executive Orders
Google dropped diversity targets due to Trump's executive orders opposing such policies.

Google has reversed its previous commitment to diversity initiatives, stating that it must comply with President Trump's executive orders against diversity, equity, and inclusion policies as a federal contractor.
In 2020, Google had set an ambitious goal of increasing the representation of underrepresented groups in its leadership team by 30 percent within five years. However, the company has now abandoned these aspirational goals.
Shifting Priorities
Fiona Cicconi, Google's chief people officer, announced this change in a Q&A session with employees. She explained that the company will no longer have diversity targets and emphasized the need to align with the current federal guidelines.
This decision marks a significant shift in Google's approach to workplace diversity, raising concerns among employees and advocates who championed these initiatives.
