Graffiti Vandals Deface Abandoned Luxury High-Rise in Downtown Los Angeles

Graffiti vandals have struck an abandoned luxury high-rise in Downtown Los Angeles, defacing 27 floors of the building near the Crypto.com arena, just days before the 2024 Grammy Awards. The Los Angeles Police Department is collaborating with property developers and city officials to bolster security measures and launch an investigation into the incident.

The LAPD has confirmed that measures to improve security and remove the graffiti will be implemented promptly. The high-rise, known as Oceanwide Plaza, had been left unfinished for nearly five years after construction was halted when the Chinese developer leading the project ceased operations in 2019. The building was intended to revitalize Downtown Los Angeles, but now stands as a symbol of neglect amidst the cityscape.
